**Job Description**
The Belfast office has an established track record of successfully delivering road schemes and works closely with other disciplines from Bridges, Geotechnical, Environment, Transport Planning and Development Sectors. The team workload ranges from feasibility studies to scheme designs, working with a variety of clients both from the public and private sector including design & build partnerships with contractors
The successful candidate will take responsibility in all aspects of highway design and Active Travel to work on local, national and international schemes from our Belfast office. We would like to hear from individuals who have demonstrable highways/Active Travel experience, a sound technical background and business development capabilities that share our enthusiasm and determination to develop our business.
Current projects being undertaken by our Belfast Roads team include:
+ York Street Interchange
+ A6 Dungiven to Drumahoe
+ A24 Ballynahinch Bypass
+ Newry Southern Relief Road
+ Bus Connects Scheme
+ Various Cycleway and Greenway Schemes
Whilst the above highlights some of our local projects there are also significant opportunities for the right candidate to contribute to a wider UK & Ireland portfolio of projects including our recent wins for National Highways and HS2.
**Job Responsibilities:**
+ Produce technical design information including reports, drawings and specifications
+ Demonstrate a broad technical understanding across a range of highways disciplines including drainage, geotechnics, pavements and structures, and the ability to seek specialist advice when required
+ Provide technical input and leadership in the field of highway engineering
+ Ensure compliance with all relevant technical standards
+ Identify and manage project risks
+ Deliver specified project outcomes on time, within budget and to the quality required
+ Manage the workload, technical management and oversight of a design team
+ Write and oversee the preparation of contract documents and technical reports
+ Coach and mentor junior staff
+ Assess staff requirements at each stage of the project
+ Prepare resource plans, delivery programs, and fee proposals
+ Undertake Health and Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the design team and fulfilling responsibilities for safety in design
+ Build and maintain excellent client relationships
+ Undertake business development activities and secure opportunities with new and existing clients.
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Chartered status and membership of a relevant recognised professional institution (ICE, etc.)
+ Significant experience of highway technical design on major projects including a good understanding of design principles and the ability to practically apply them, knowledge of standard engineering practices and a demonstrable understanding of Health and Safety including CDM
**Preferred Qualifications :**
+ BSc, BEng, or higher in Civil Engineering
+ Site experience during construction
+ Understanding/experience of 3D design modelling
