**Job Description**
We are currently seeking a Principal Landscape Architect to join and support the growth of our landscape design team, based in Belfast. As a member of one of the UK&I’s largest and most diverse landscape practices, you will take a lead on a range of types and sizes of projects, including residential, urban regeneration, resorts, major infrastructure and environmental enhancement schemes. We are working with major clients, both in the UK and overseas that include central government, universities, local authorities and numerous private clients, including many of the major global developers. Our current projects range from international resorts such as Alula to local public realm projects like Portaferry Public Realm. We work across the design stages integrating our strengths in landscape planning and management to produce design solutions which are in harmony with the environment, sustainable and delivered in an imaginative and innovative way.
Our office is based in the heart of Belfast and is 5 minutes’ walk from Belfast City Hall, 6 minutes’ walk from Great Victoria Street Railway Station and 14 minutes’ walk from Belfast Lanyon Place Station. The office is modern and open plan, with spectacular views over the Belfast Hills and Castlereagh Hills. It contains a range of break out spaces, meeting rooms, a lunch space and secure cycle storage and showers. A range of social activities take place throughout the year as part of our Sports and Social Club ranging from Bowling/Family Days/Panto/Go-Karting and much much more. A monthly contribution of £2 will provide a discounted price for any events that you wish to attend.
We are looking for applicants with a proven track record in landscape design, but with demonstrable experience in public realm and working within multi-disciplinary design teams. This is an opportunity to join a large growing team with strong links across many disciplines. We want an enthusiastic team player with sound technical and communication skills who wishes to be involved in the development of buildable solutions in an environment that is collaborative, stimulating and challenging. The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team and develop our portfolio of projects with our external and internal clients.
**Job Responsibilities:**
Applicants should be able to demonstrate an appropriate level of technical expertise in order to be able to carry out the following job/project accountabilities:
+ Direct project management responsibilities, including contractual, financial and programme management.
+ Establish strong working relationships with other members of the landscape team and internal teams across the business.
+ Develop and manage the work of others, including as a line manager and P2C mentor.
+ Secure and deliver new work by forming and maintaining good relationships with external and internal clients.
+ Clear communication, including the ability to produce clear graphics to convey ideas to clients and stakeholders and to write concise technical reports and to lead conference calls, meetings and workshops.
+ Responsible for managing graduates in the delivery of projects.
+ Attendance at client meetings and presentation of landscape design requirements.
+ Preparing concept designs and convey graphically for client presentations through to preparation of construction information including creation of specifications
+ Produce and/or oversee the production of reports, drawings and other technical documentation (specifications) using appropriate software, with the necessary level of detail as required at various stages of development from strategies to construction detailing and planting design.
+ Have the technical ability, knowledge and competence to provide guidance to develop junior staff.
+ Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within a multi-disciplinary design team.
+ Awareness of AECOM procedures, their importance and their application to projects.

**Qualifications**
+ At least five years post Chartership experience.
+ Technically competent in preparing landscape design schemes for public realm and major infrastructure projects.
+ Thorough knowledge and understanding of the UK legal and planning system with respect to landscape architecture.
+ Fluency in English and ability to communicate effectively.
+ Experience of managing projects, including financial control and reporting and programme management.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
+ The successful candidate will be competent in the use of AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Cloud software.
+ Experience of some or all of the following would also be very useful: AutoCAD Civils 3D, Revit, LSS or ProjectWise.
+ Experience of working collaboratively with other design disciplines.
+ Full UK driving licence.
