**Job Description**
AECOM has a position available for a Cultural Landscape Architectural Historian in Arlington, VA.
The responsibilities of this role include, but may not be limited to, the following:
+ Participation in business development to help grow the business in the DC, MD, VA, NC area.
+ Ability to interact with Project Managers, clients, and review agencies in a professional consulting environment; ability to manage a project with limited oversight.
+ Prepare Preservation Plans, Historic Structure Reports, Design Guidelines, and Building Condition Assessment Reports.
+ Interprets and applies applicable government codes, ordinances and regulations. Initiates actions necessary to correct deficiencies or violations of regulations.
+ Assists with updates and maintenance of Comprehensive Plan
+ Acts as a liaison between community groups, government agencies, developers and elected officials in developing neighborhood plans.
+ Conducts review of various development applications, including plats, permits, site plans, variance requests and rezonings.
+ Conducts extensive research in specific or general project areas.
+ Writes and presents formal and technical reports, working papers and correspondence.
+ Evaluates adequacy of community facilities in meeting current and projected needs.
**Qualifications**
Minimum Requirements
+ BA/BS degree and 6 + years’ of relevant experience in architectural history and historic preservation
+ For this role a Master’s degree in architectural history, history, historic preservation, American studies, or related discipline is required
+ Historic Preservation Certificate required
+ Must meet Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Architectural History or History
Preferred Qualifications
+ Demonstrated knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the necessary regulatory steps as it applies to historic properties
+ Ability to direct/conduct architectural history field surveys; ability to direct/conduct focused architectural research.
+ Ability to manage an architectural history project and draft the appropriate reports including write Section 106 reports, such as Determinations of Eligibility and Effects, historic context studies, and Section 106 agreement documents.
+ Experience writing Section 106 agreement documents
+ Previous Federal experience
+ Federal Security clearance is a plus
+ Possess regionally specific (DC, MD, VA, NC) architectural history knowledge.
+ Planning and Design experience is preferred, specifically experience preparing Preservation Plans, Historic Structure Reports, Design Guidelines, and Building Condition Assessment Reports.
+ Experience working on federal and state tax credit projects in DC, MD, VA is preferred.
+ Experience researching and preparing cultural landscape histories and working on Cultural Landscape Reports

+ This is a hybrid work model; some office presence is required
+ Candidate must be willing to travel for site visits and meetings.
+ Relocation is not available for this position
