The Bradford Factor is a human resource management tool used to measure the impact and patterns of employee absences. It was developed by Bradford University School of Management in the 1980s. The formula puts emphasis on the frequency of absences rather than their total duration, based on the theory that shorter, more frequent absences are more disruptive to organizations than longer, less frequent ones.
The Bradford Factor score is calculated using the formula: B = S² × D
