BUILD BETTER NOW
How can smart, flexible buildings help us reach net zero?
Tuesday 2nd November 2021, 12pm-1pm
The recent publication of the BEIS/Ofgem Smart Systems and Flexibility Plan 2.0 highlights the significant benefits of an energy system transition built on flexibility and optimisation, initially on the back of EV roll out. Given smart and flexible homes and buildings can have greater and locationally specific capacity, they could offer further benefits to networks and to home owners and users; in addition to advancing action on decarbonisation.
How the construction and development sectors make the most of the changing nature of the energy system will be a key part of the decarbonisation of buildings. This event will debate the opportunities and challenges of smart and flexible buildings as a panel plenary debate, followed by a live Q&A – in addition a graphic artist will capture the debate visually to help give a tangible expression of the ideas behind smart flexible buildings as part of the energy system.
This event has been organised by Active Building Centre, Ofgem and University of Edinburgh.
