**Job Description**
We’re looking for Civil and Structural Engineers to work on Major Civils projects of a tunnelling nature at all levels to join our teams across the UK.

Based in our Croydon office, we have a dedicated tunnelling and Civil Infrastructure team working on some of the most challenging tunnelling and Civil Infrastructure projects across both the UK and abroad. These key projects have included Thames Tideway Central Contract, HS2, London Power Tunnels 2 and Snowdonia Cable Tunnel. We offer technically challenging work in a supportive team to grow your technical skills in the context of landmark UK Civil Infrastructure projects. The nature of our work is fast-paced and both challenging and rewarding in equal measure. We are currently pursuing major opportunities in high-speed rail in the UK and overseas, water transfer tunnels, highway tunnels, hydroelectric schemes and high-voltage cable tunnels. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional to further develop with our core team in Croydon, whilst also playing an active role in expanding and supporting the business within the UK and overseas. This is a versatile and rewarding role involving the technical delivery of complex tunnelling Civil Infrastructure projects across multiple sectors.
You will:
+ Plan and design tunnels, shafts, and significant underground civil infrastructure.
+ Understand, develop and learn the importance of safe, constructable solutions.
+ Lead AECOM safety in design principles.
+ Support multidisciplinary teams in the transport, water and power sectors.
+ Communicate clearly and concisely with engineering staff as part of multidisciplinary teams.
+ Interface and communicate with clients.
+ Prepare and monitor packages of work in line with an agreed scope and budget.
+ Lead or support specific packages of work depending on size and/or complexity.
+ Review and support work delivered by other engineers.
+ Mentor and support junior engineers.
+ We are looking for you to:
+ Display excellent technical and soft skills in the delivery of consultancy work.
+ Develop plans relating to the delivery of technical aspects of projects.
+ Design reinforced concrete structures.
+ Design tunnel and shaft structures in a variety of challenging ground conditions.
+ Be experienced in numerical analysis methods including 2D and 3D finite element modelling.
+ Be experienced in writing technical reports.
+ Have knowledge of the methods and techniques used in the design of tunnel linings including segmental, jacked, cast insitu, sprayed concrete, masonry/blockwork, rock bolted/anchored and unlined.
+ Hold knowledge in the methods and techniques used in the design of deep, large diameter shafts including segmental, secant piled, diaphragm wall and sprayed concrete.
+ Have demonstrable experience of soil structure interaction and geotechnical experience.
+ The preferred candidates would ideally have a civil/structural background.
+ Importantly, mentoring will be given to the candidate to support and develop their engineering knowledge.

+ Have a degree in Civil or Civil & Structural Engineering
+ Possessing an MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics/Geotechnical/Tunnelling Engineering would be an advantage
+ Hold Professional membership or are close to achieving this (MICE preferred)
