As a Project Director you will be working with a Regional Director/Director to successfully manage a team delivering project management services for multiple infrastructure clients.
The role will involve functional leadership of the Infrastructure Project Management team within the London region. It will include business development activities; acting as a key point of contact fostering collaborative relationships with clients; team development in terms of capability, technical excellence, and growth; and monitoring performance ensuring positive outcomes and benefits for clients and AECOM. You will also be undertaking a key delivery role working closely with clients, representing AECOM to enhance our reputation within industry.
+ Lead a Regional Infrastructure Project Management team delivering various commissions, taking accountability for their successful delivery.
+ Acting as the Deputy to the National Project Management Lead for a team of 70 plus Project Managers and be required to take on the duties of the Lead on an interim basis as required.
+ Provide effective support and mentoring to Associates, Senior Managers, Managers, Graduates and Apprentices.
+ Ensures PM infrastructure commissions are managed and completed efficiently, on time and to the client’s satisfaction and work with the Key Account and Framework leads to ensure delivery of the service is to a high quality and delivering customer satisfaction.
+ Develops strong reciprocal relationships with clients and members of the project team, building a strong team spirit and work ethic.
+ Be the primary interface with AECOM clients (new and existing).
+ Ensure all staff members reporting to you have current and relevant training.
+ Manage the delivery of the Regional project management team outputs, in accordance with agreed timescales and quality standards.
+ Share success and collaborate with other business units within AECOM including programme management and the other Infrastructure Regional Leads.
+ Provide full Project Management services to AECOM clients.
+ Managing and motivating a project team of project managers working across multiple infrastructure clients.
+ Working with our Talent Acquisition team to recruit high caliber individuals to support new and existing commissions.
+ Monitors the main drivers or indicators of commercial performance and is able to interpret their long-term impact on business performance.
+ Development of collaborative partnerships with your clients and teams across AECOM to enable you to lead your accounts to ensure your clients achieve the maximum value from the work we do.
+ As a Regional lead, you will own of your account’s commercial success, you will have a direct impact on our business performance and will be a focal point for your colleagues as the heartbeat of how your account teams deliver.
Approach to all projects requires a high degree of flexibility and creativity, excellent presentational skills and an ability to communicate effectively with clients and consultants. The successful candidate shall be charged with the delivery of Project Management Services within our Client focused and highly motivated professional team.
As the successful candidate you will ensure teams consistently deliver exceptional levels of performance for internal and external stakeholders. A key part of your role as Project Director will involve ensuring effective management practices are applied, covering delivery planning, the management of risks, issues, dependencies and opportunities and effective reporting.
You will ensure best practices of Project Management are followed by all project teams in Process Development, with the goal of not only delivering products of high quality and value to the organization, but also of delivering them within the agreed-upon metrics of schedule, resources, budget and scope.
As the successful applicant you will have proven behavioral and competency based experience across the following.
+ Degree Qualified – BSc or MSc – in Project Management or other construction or engineering related profession.
+ Professionally Qualified – ideally Chartered Project Management Status with the APM, RICS, CIOB or other equivalent institution.
+ Extensive and proven experience in a consulting environment providing the full spectrum of PM services.
+ Ideally have led an equivalent project management function in a consulting environment.
+ Understanding of JCT and NEC standard forms of contract.
+ Proven ability to advise clients and design teams on value, risk and programme in a holistic way.
+ Understanding of a variety of project types/sizes/across the infrastructure sectors.
+ Ability to manage relationships effectively, identifying and resolving issues at the earliest possible opportunity.
+ Understanding of both Agile and waterfall PM methodologies.
+ Possesses strong people management skills and the ability to manage relationships both internally and externally.
+ Is accountable and responsible for own actions and those of your team.
+ Ability to work under own initiative where appropriate working closely with the Management Team in the delivery of some of our highest profile project.
+ Keen to work as part of a team and to develop and progress career development.
+ Engenders a right first time approach.
+ Understand the fundamentals of the internal AECOM management systems and undertake PM or PA duties in APIC and to be commercially aware.
+ Supporter of social and CSR activities, promoting a positive and enjoyable workplace.
+ Experienced in managing, motivating and developing a project team.
+ Experienced client account manager for a major framework and/or client.
+ Experienced at managing senior level customer relationships
+ Ability and experience of building positive long-term relationships with clients.
+ Demonstrates the ability to lead multi-disciplinary and/or major Project Management bids
+ Demonstrates the ability to win work and is accountable for the profitable delivery of the projects.
+ Experience of managing in-house project finances.
+ You will be able to demonstrate project management capabilities (direct or transferable) gained in industry or consulting environments.
+ Leads and delivers multiple, medium to high complexity projects for a variety of public and private sector clients.
+ Thinks strategically and challenges the status quo, welcoming all ideas for improvement.
+ Demonstrates commercial acumen.
+ Is able to quantify long term risk in order to identify benefit to the business and considers ways to minimise risk in taking high level decisions.
+ Creates a culture and an empowering environment where others share knowledge, insights and learning and enjoy working for AECOM.
+ Demonstrates an active involvement in extracurricular activities and contribution to the practice outside of day to day project/client work
+ Demonstrates significant experience of working in a specialist field and a good working knowledge of the issues involved in that specialist area
+ Mentors Managers in activities to drive a culture of technical excellence. You will also be accountable for leading the identification, design and delivery of improvements to project and programme management processes. You will contribute to strategy and wider change initiatives.
