The London Policy & Strategy Network is delighted to welcome Democratic Society for a session discussing discuss social and environmental settings that are inclusive and help citizens be more democratically and meaningfully engaged with decision making processes.
We’ll share insights from three European examples: a Citizen Assembly in Newham, UK, community-led energy transition in Amsterdam, NL, and Beyond the Rules, a cross-sector project about learning from power. Key themes include importance of “local approach”, social ties, and appropriate space and time to gather and learn from each other.
We will then discuss:
What settings and conditions enable better inclusivity, and how can we be better at this?
What settings help foster a culture of peer learning, to cross knowledge and organisational siloes, and how might we harness this for long term benefit?
