Here's How We Work:Our Edmonton office is looking for a collaborative Project Accountant to join our team. We are seeking a proactive, “can do” individual who enjoys building relationships to ensure efficient budgeting, finance and planning. You would be a part of an established, highly skilled team who enjoys what each member offers to the team environment.As the Project Accountant, you will work closely with Project Managers and Project Directors to monitor and control all project related financial data for an assigned portfolio of projects, for the Edmonton regional office.NOTE 1: This is a full-time maternity leave replacement position available immediately through March 2024, with the possibility of extension or conversion to permanent status.NOTE 2: Although this role is an Edmonton based position, the successful candidate can work remotely or hybridly from our office locations in the Edmonton, Calgary, Kelowna or Vancouver areas.Most of the Things You Will Work On: Participate in project planning, budgeting and detail project set-up in the system using ERP software, ideally BSTCoordinate and complete the accurate entry of data and required information for the set-up of projects, as instructed by the appropriate Project Manager or Project Director, and follow established standards and Company policies, including:Control, maintain and approve data components of projects (contract amounts, budgets, rate tables, approved contract changes, sub-consultant agreements and invoices, and other project expenses),Maintain and monitor all contract terms, including fee escalation clauses and labour rate changes, to ensure they are reflected in the system appropriately, and billed accordingly,Coordinate data collection and contract monitoring with other office/region Project Accountants to facilitate organization of interoffice work on projects,Monitor project progress towards completion and assist Project Manager in the ongoing financial analysis of the project,Initiate billing cycle, work with the PM/PD to ensure that accurate invoices are generated with appropriate supporting documentation and issued in a timely fashion.Monitor accounts receivable and follow-up on overdue invoicesReview timesheets and expense claims to ensure they are properly coded and receipts are attached if requiredMonitor receipt of third-party invoices and expenses for inclusion in contract expenses and billing documentation, as appropriate. You'll Need to Have:3+ years of professional accounting experience, ideally, some of which would be in a projects based environmentBachelor's in Accounting or related degree or Diploma in AccountingHighly organized and able to manage multiple and conflicting prioritiesDemonstrates a strong attention to detailPositive, but assertive personality when dealing with both clients and project managersExcels at working independently to solve challenges and works cohesively as a member of a highly skilled teamExercises initiative, able to pursue issues to resolution and work effectively to meet strict deadlinesExpertise in project related financial concepts and terms, including: contracts, terms, amendments, change orders, estimate to complete, accounts receivable, yield, variance, etc.Experience using an ERP software is a must, BST experience is a significant plusThorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite tools including intermediate level skills using ExcelThe Following are Considered Assets:Accounting designation completion or in progressExperience in an Architectural, Engineering or Construction environment is a plusUnderstanding of cost control processesAdditional InformationWhy you should work for Arcadis IBI Group:Our employees will find a design environment where collaboration is at the core of the business.
