Arcadis is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Planner who will have the opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary team of professionals on the Yonge North Subway Extension (YNSE), Scarborough Subway Extension (SSE) and their respective Transit-Oriented Communities. You will take the lead role in the planning of YNSE and SSE, including leading and overseeing the preparation of planning reports, public consultations, and providing planning opinions on development application reviews. You will collaborate with our internal and sub-consultant teams, as well as Infrastructure Ontario, Metrolinx, developers, and other stakeholders throughout the duration of the YNSE/SSE project. You will be a resource for the applications of the Building Transit Faster Act, 2020 (BFTA) to YNSE and SSE, and coordinate with Property, PLA and Environmental disciplines as required.In addition to YNSE/SSE projects, you will have the opportunity to lead and manage a wide variety and scale of land development projects that include low to high-rise residential, master plans, commercial and industrial, and urban infill. Your experience at Arcadis will provide you with many opportunities for professional and career growth while contributing to the success of the company.Most of The Things You'll Work On: Your responsibilities, reporting under the Manager and other senior leadership staff, will include:• Analyze policy and plans and provide recommendations in regards to Transit-Oriented Communities and the subway projects;• Work closely and coordinate with other disciplines and members of the project team, including counterparts at Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario, development partners and other stakeholders;• Prepare memos, technical reports, consultation and other materials, as required;• Participating in all meetings and coordinating efforts with undertaking the project;• Collaborate with other professionals, such as architects, engineers, and other various contractors, to ensure that the design of development proposals is in line with planning policies and regulations;• Leading the preparation, monitoring and processing of Planning Act applications;• Delegating, reviewing and overseeing the work of intermediate and junior staff;• Review and sign-off on Planning Due Diligence reports, Highest and Best Use Assessments, Opinion Letters, and Planning Justification Reports;• Project Management and Coordination (day-to-day file management), including maintaining, enhancing, managing and growing client relationships;• Leading client meetings, sub-consultant, public and municipal staff meetings;• Pursuing new project opportunities in both the public and private sectors;• Managing and coordinating project budgets, timelines, and team members; and• Build client relationships by providing excellent customer service and communications, identifying potential market opportunities, leading the preparation of proposals, networking connections, and other business development activities.You'll Need To Have:• Minimum 5+ years of related work experience in land use planning and development.• An undergraduate or graduate degree in Urban Planning or related field;• Professional certification, such as Registered Professional Planner (RPP), is an asset;• Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills;• Strong leadership, organizational and project management skills;• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat;• Knowledge of land use planning, urban design, and municipal policy and processes;• Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills that will assist you in leading successful projects;• Experience dealing with Ontario Land Tribunal is an asset;• Familiarity with municipal, provincial, and federal policies and legislations related to land use and transportation planning; and• Knowledge of Building Transit Faster Act, 2020 (BTFA) and Transit-Oriented Communities Act, 2020 is an asset.Additional InformationWhy You Should Work for Arcadis IBI Group:Our employees will find a design environment where collaboration is at the core of the business.
