Role description:Arcadis is growing! Arcadis USA is seeking an Transportation Engineer to join our ITS (Intelligent transportation systems) team in Seattle, USA. This role sits within the Global Intelligence Business Area. What you'll be working on. In this role, you will be working on ITS (intelligent transportation systems), Communications Technology and Transit Technology projects. You will contribute to projects related to the application of technology to improve the experience of thousands of daily travelers right here in Seattle and across the US and Canada. We work with state and city Departments of Transportation and municipal and regional transit agencies to plan, design, and implement new systems for toll collection, fare collection, bus location and dispatch, and more.What the office is like. We continue to work primarily remotely; however, design team members are expected to be in the office for design workshops a minimum of bi-weekly. You are welcome to work from the office as often as you need. The Seattle office is in a great location on the 10th floor of the Norton Building in downtown Seattle with views of Mount Rainier and the Puget Sound. We're close to several transit hubs including light rail, ferry, and bus stations. Our office is multi-disciplinary with staff from our ITS design, transit technology and operations consulting, transit data and real-time information solutions, K-12 school architecture, and transit facilities architecture practices.We work on projects across North America. Significant projects include:Supporting public agencies with the design and implementation of bus rapid transit service, including civil, structural, architectural, and ITS design. Currently working with Sound Transit and the Spokane Transit Authority.ITS and communications design for advanced traffic management, tolling, and traveler information projects, including tolled border crossing projects along the US/Canadian and US/Mexican borders.Role accountabilities: Work with senior designers to develop plans and specifications for ITS and communications infrastructure;Work with senior systems engineers to develop requirements and procurement packages for transit technologies;Research emerging and innovative technologies and solutions;Assist with preparing materials for presentation at client meetings;Review vendor proposals and design documentation;Support development of schedules and cost estimates;Attend and contribute to team meetings;Support field inspections and system testing activities, including review of proposed test procedures; andSupport senior staff with business development initiatives. Qualifications & Experience:Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, transportation planning, data analytics, economics, or related field;A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience at an A&E firm preferred;Candidates must have excellent and demonstrable oral and written communications skills;Candidates must have excellent analytical skills that should be demonstrable through previous work experience or University courses;AutoCAD and MS Office 365 (including Visio and Excel) are useful skills, but not a requirement;Candidates must be willing to travel to client sites as required;A valid driver’s license is useful, but not required;Candidates should be able to articulate their interest in a career in technology as it relates to the transportation industry and smarter cities.The estinated salary range for this positon is between $70,000-$75,000 USDAdditional InformationWhy Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
