Our fast-growing Utilities team is seeking a talented Utilities Coordinator / Engineering Designer in the GTA region. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a challenging, large-scale transportation based project that will allow you to use your design and coordination skills within utilities and apply it to a large-scale and reputable transportation project. Most of the things you'll work on:Responsible for coordination of planning, design and close out of the project’s utility relocations; review, update, supplement or complete the utility location information, protection/relocation strategy prepared by the design team and other consultants (including gas, hydro, water, telecom, and wastewater infrastructure);upon receipt of the SUE (subsurface utility engineering) work, review and confirm that work was performed in accordance with the scope of work. If incomplete, document additional works to be completed;contact and meet with all identified utility companies to obtain as-built information, including updates and information on future work and convert such information into electronic format suitable for the project;determine with team if there are critical utilities that require further field confirmation by exposing utility and/or survey;identify and address any immediate or critical utilities challenges that impact the procurement and/or delivery of the projects (including technology issues (e.g. copper splicing), resourcing issues and property issues (e.g. easements for tiebacks));classify project utilities to determine whether (i) major or minor relocations are required and (ii) whether relocation activities are on the project critical path;identify utility conflicts within alignment and station footprints;develop design solutions in instances where the project alignment may conflict with provincially or nationally significant regulated transmission lines (e.g. gas, hydro);provide the project team assistance in tracking of progress on utilities risks and resolutions; coordinate with project manager and clients to ensure complete utilities information is obtained;perform such other tasks in respect of utilities as may be required;for the design work an opportunity for you to get involved in the preparation of transportation utilities design for MTO/Metrolinx and municipal projects including:Preparing preliminary design in CAD for dry and wet utilitiesPreparing designs of utility protection and relocationConstruction staging design Prepare drawingsPrepare quantity take-offsWalk through full cycle design development from concept, preliminary, and detailed design stagesCoordination with other project stakeholdersPreparing cost estimates and quantity take offs.Evaluate technical alternatives, resolve technical issues and interface with other disciplines.
