Utility Engineer to support civil, highways and transit/rail infrastructure projects in the GTA. This role includes preparation of drawings in CAD (MicroStation and Autodesk products) mark-ups, conceptual figures, engineering design calculations, design briefs, technical reports, quantities, cost estimates, construction specifications and other duties. Utility coordination include interactions with internal project teams, other consultants, clients and contractors, local stakeholders such as Metrolinx, TTC, Local Area Municipalities, Regional municipalities, Third Party Utilities, Public Utility Commissions, Canadian National Railway, Canadian Pacific Railway, Gas and Electric companies, Public Works Departments, Conservation Authorities and other interested Parties as required.We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.In Engineering, you'll create some of the world’s most iconic and ground-breaking structures and spaces that transform the world around us, from making journeys easier to opening up public places that bring people together.Role accountabilities:To function as a Project Engineer on civil infrastructure projects with a focus on detail design for utilities related to transit, municipal/land development projectsPrepare preliminary and detailed design drawings for wet utilities including storm, sanitary and watermain systemsCoordinating closely with other disciplines, impacted dry utility companies to plan and coordinate relocations of infrastructure as per project needsApply design standards, guidelines and regulations set out by the local municipalities, authorities such conservation authorities and environmental regulatory agenciesManage the utilities design development process by coordinating all wet and dry utility requirements with the multi-disciplinary project teamIdentify potential issues/constraints and will provide expertise to address issues before they affect the delivery of the projectPrepare contract specifications for a wide variety of projectsManage more junior staff to ensure deliverables are met within schedule, budget and quality requirementsHave an eye in issues that could arise from any stakeholder, be able to adapt and provide solutions to complex problems in a positive manner.Foster a spirit of enthusiasm and client focusLead project tasksClient liaisonParticipation in the management of the utilities group in the Toronto West OfficeQualifications and Experience:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical PossessAt least of 7 years of experience on similar large, complex transit/transportation projects with increasing levels of responsibilityP.Eng. or eligibility for designation requiredDirect experience with local public and private utility companies in GTA is an asset.Excellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to work independently as well as team building, strong interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skillsExperience with design of trenchless methods for installation of small and large diameter watermains and sewers is an assetFamiliar with Construction inspection and preparation of reports.Technical abilities to use computer modeling software, scheduling software, programming and expertise in Microsoft Excel to create maintain utility conflict matrices and multiple tracking logs Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Open Roads and Civil3D an asset Additional InformationWhy Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
