As a Mid-level Architectural Designer, you will work in an architecture studio on large, high-end, and custom design projects, providing design leadership by giving clients excellent service both on design and delivery. You will continually provide innovative design solutions, improve design quality, and represent Gensler architecture design to clients and the design community. Our San Jose studio has a thriving architectural and interior practice focusing on providing innovative solutions and climatically responsible design, from large, complex commercial office buildings to smaller repositioning projects for developer and technology clients, as well as a growing practice in education. Through our integrated inside-out design approach, we impact both the people working in our buildings and the surrounding community with our inspirational and thought-leading design solutions.
What You Will Do
Involvement in all phases of the design process including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.
Interaction with clients while representing Gensler at meetings and presentations.
Utilize hand rendering techniques to communicate design concepts to the client and the team.
Close collaboration with design team, clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
Leading, developing, and mentoring the architectural design team.
Partnering with Principals in business development and the building of the architecture practice.
Your Qualifications
5-10 years’ professional experience including a proven track record of leading the design of large-scale projects such as corporate headquarters, commercial, or mixed-use projects.
Advanced degree in Architecture or Design preferred with a rigorous design education.
Experience creating and developing overall design concepts and formulating design presentation strategies with an understanding of trends in large, shell/core architectural design.
Direct project experience working within U.S. industry/building standards and regulations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Outstanding graphic presentation skills.
Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key constituents.
Strong, persuasive communicator with excellent verbal presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex design concepts to clients.
A desire to mentor team members, offer guidance, and leadership.
Proficiency in REVIT required.
Ability to use 2D/3D software, including AutoCAD, 3D Studio MAX, and Sketch.
Knowledge of the total project process including fee and team management, schedules, and budgets.
