The Perkins&Will San Francisco Studio is growing, and we are looking for highly motivated individuals excited to help us grow our Workplace practice area. We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Designer II to join a highly collaborative and dynamic Interiors Workplace/Design team with opportunities for growth. The ideal individual will have 3+ years of experience and be a self-starter with strong project design skills. Professionals with experience in fast-paced, highly detailed & technical projects with a strong interest in workplace interiors are welcome to apply.
Responsibilities
- Uses enhanced knowledge of project complexity to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design.
- Assists in generating creative and innovative design ideas, concepts, and solutions while participating as an integral member of the design team.
- Prepares programming and space planning to assess client and project needs.
- Has a passion for developing design presentation materials, including renderings, elevations, FF&E presentations, and finish packages.
- Generates drawings under supervision for schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
- Exercises critical and creative judgment and design application skills in preparing client presentation materials.
- Uses a creative approach to complete tasks and responsibilities on projects, within the scope of schedule and budget, in an organized, timely, and consistent way.
- Performs product research and assists team with material selections.
- Self-checks work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.
- Takes increasing ownership of tasks within project teams and studio activities.
- Participates in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups.
- Keeps open communication within the team and with the designated team leader.
- Communicates ideas and thoughts in a way that inspires others.
- Coordinates effectively with partners and consultants.
- Maintains interest in involvement during the construction administration phase.
- Has a strong desire to be a part of a project from start to finish and to experience the design come to life.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in architecture or interior design
- 3-5 years of interiors/workplace experience
- Graphic design, 3D modeling, and visualization software knowledge
- Effective verbal and written storytelling skills
- Proficiencies in BIM, building codes, site analysis, preliminary design studies, contract documents, field measurements, life safety requirements, specifications, and sketching
- Knowledge of construction contract administration
- Interest in completing your NCIDQ or ARE Exams
- Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation
Software & Technical
- Functional knowledge of 2D/3D production software
- Intermediate Revit/BIM
- Conceptual modeling tools such as Rhino and Grasshopper
- Microsoft Office / Adobe Suite
- Visualization tools such as Enscape and VRay
- Physical modeling tools such as 3D Printing and Laser cutting
- Presentation tools such as InDesign and Photoshop

At the time of posting this job advertisement, the annual pay salary range for this position is between $70,000-$89,300 commensurate with qualifications. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, wellness, LTD, Life Insurance, 401k, and PTO.
