ABOUT THE ROLE
CannonDesign’s national K-12 Strategy practice seeks an Educational System Project Planner to join our growing team.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead and support district master planning and other strategic consulting assignments, drawing from your own and the team’s technical expertise in education pedagogy, organizational strategy, operational modeling, asset management, facility design, and space optimization.
- Lead the development, modification and/or review of planning concepts, scenarios, and solutions with project teams and clients, verbally and through graphic and written reports, and work effectively with others to optimize plans that further clients’ objectives.
- Design, tailor and implement master planning and stakeholder engagement processes tailored to suit the unique client needs.
- Lead and contribute to production of planning tools, technical content, and deliverables/work products, such as benchmarking research, data analysis, visualization, storytelling, decision-supports, and technical reports.
- Actively further the state of the art within our industry and develop innovative solutions and responses as the needs of the education institutions evolve.
- Assist in developing and maintaining excellent client relationships, project scope, work plans, value-proposition and fees during the pre-proposal and contract process with existing and potential clients.
- Provide guidance and advice to and collaborate with other designers and project leaders throughout the firm, including those serving other client segments such as higher education, healthcare and commercial markets.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Education Administration, Urban Planning/GIS, Data Science, Architecture, Engineering, Construction or other related degree. Technical or educational accreditation/licensure preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of related experience in district portfolio planning, facility condition and adequacy assessments.
- Capital project implementation for complex, large-scale educational clients required.
- Subject matter expertise in school district operations and current trends in public education and school design required.
- Professional publications and/or speaking engagement experience preferred.
- Ability to work client-facing with strong verbal and written communication skills, and proven ability to build a rapport with the project team and clients.
- Must be a fully qualified professional able to perform work with a high degree of latitude, with some ambiguity in work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and the ability to generate compelling original content in PowerPoint required.
- Familiarity with advanced data analytics and GIS tools such as Tableau, Power BI, ArchGIS required, and proficiency with same preferred.
- Multi-lingual and/or ASL fluency preferred.
- Must possess business acumen.
- Must be a critical thinker.
- Must be highly analytical.
- Strong technical knowledge, coordination skills and the ability to build a rapport with the project team and client is essential.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam required.
- Travel required at times with short notice.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary range for this position to be filled in the Los Angeles office is $97,400 to $121,800 annually. This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
