Heritage Consultant

Our Hobart studio is looking for a Heritage Consultant to join the Practice on a part-time or full-time basis. The successful candidate will support the team’s architectural projects as required and work alongside our existing Heritage Consultancy team members.

The Studio has a wide range of projects including places of regeneration, infrastructure, and public buildings. Roles and Responsibilities:

• Providing sound and ethical advice concerning the appropriate conservation of the historic environment.
• Regularly communicating with the regional heritage consultancy team, including reporting to a designated line manager.
• Managing workload to meet deadlines.
• Preparing and contributing to thorough, concise, and well-structured heritage reports.
• Occasional travel throughout Australia, including supporting colleagues in our Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, and remote working with our Hong Kong studios.
• Contribute to the seamless running and delivery of all projects to the highest standards.
• Support with planning and project management of projects, with an understanding of profitability.
• Ability to work with autonomy and as a member of a project team.
• Support and maintain client relationships - maintain open, honest, transparent relationships with client teams and consultants.

Candidates ideally will have:

• Tertiary qualifications in heritage conservation, architecture, architectural history, archaeology, or other relevant subject area.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role, with a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience.
• Experience preparing Heritage Impact Statements and supporting design teams.
• Experience contributing to conservation management plans and other heritage reports.
• Ability to work independently and within a team, as per the requirements of any project.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work within a budget.
• Agility to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent communication, particularly writing in a clear and concise manner.
• Curiosity and commitment to continued professional development.

It would also be an advantage if candidates possess:

• Qualifications in architecture.
• CAD skills.
• Knowledge of RAIA work stages.
• Driver's License.
