As strategists and designers working with manufacturers, we leverage this knowledge and application-based viewpoint to boost a product’s commercial appeal and optimize end-user experience.Your RoleAs an Industrial Designer working within our Product Development practice, you will participate in the entire product design process — from visioning to conceptual design to design development to validation. Throughout this process, you will maintain a continuous dialogue with the Gensler design team and the manufacturer.What You Will DoSupport the Product Development practice area in the firm’s Northeast region by working with multiple teams inside and outside of Gensler to create new products for the built environment (including furniture, seating, wall systems, lighting, flooring, washroom equipment, and hardware)Research and evaluate the competitive landscapeFacilitate and participate in pre-design innovation sessionsMeet with Product Development and Design Directors for briefings and reviewsEvaluate the feasibility of design concepts relative to appearance, performance, safety, code compliance, sustainability, serviceability/maintenance, manufacturability, and cost/price objectivesPrepare sketches, illustrations, renderings, and CAD drawings using computer-aided design equipment and programsRecommend appropriate materials, finishes, and colorsPrepare client presentation documentsParticipate in client presentationsReview prototypes and mock-upsYour QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or related major5-7 years of professional Industrial Design experience in relevant product categoriesExcellent written and verbal communication skills (must present ideas and information in a clear, concise, well-organized manner)Well-developed sketching, drawing, visualization, and rendering skillsExpertise in visualization and modeling software programs (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Keyshot)Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)3D printing and/or model-making experienceUnderstanding of ergonomics and wire managementKnowledge of manufacturing/assembly processes and molding techniquesComputational design experience a plusRevit proficiency a plusProject management experience a plusDemonstrated curiosity, creativity, energy, and enthusiasm a mustThis is not a remote position.**The base salary range will be estimated between $82,500k and $97,500 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
