We are seeking a Marketing Manager to join our talented Marketing and Business Development (MBD) team. This is a senior marketing role responsible for driving our marketing activity across Charcoalblue.
You will be joining us during a significant moment in the company’s development. You will be responsible for effectively communicating our brand and our services within a global market, ensuring that Charcoalblue is represented as a multidisciplinary studio that resonates with its target audiences. You will partner with senior leadership to develop a strategic marketing framework that enables the company to position itself within the following sectors we operate within: Performing Arts, Music, Media & Technology, Education, Experiential, Hospitality & Leisure, Civic & Public, Workplace, Cultural, and Sports & Live Entertainment. You will need to provide advice and support across our business and deliver effective marketing programmes to different teams, whilst also promoting the Charcoalblue brands and its diverse range of services.
You will report to the Senior Partner: Design and New Work and interface with the leadership teams within each of our business teams. You will work in close collaboration with the Business Development Managers and a wider team of Marketing and Business Development coordinators and assistants.

Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for leading on all marketing activity globally, including communications and PR:
- Develop marketing plans and initiatives and oversee coordination.
- Assist in developing the annual Marketing and Business Development budget, in a coordinated effort with the Business Development Managers.
- Support company-wide messaging, alongside business unit leadership in the development and execution of the marketing strategies.
- Oversee coordination of special company-wide marketing-related projects, such as brand identity work and website redevelopment.
- Manage an annual marketing deliverables calendar and report progress on a quarterly basis.
- With support of MBD team, develop collateral in alignment with growth plan and goals, noting that this role requires some hands-on tasks; you will be expected to produce materials from time to time.
- Manage and conduct updates and maintenance of our websites, as well as develop digital marketing approaches for our teams.
- Maintain relevant project milestones to lead and coordinate timely PR activities, and coordinate with external partners on PR where appointed.
- Direct coordination of project photography and PR-related photos, including annual company photo.
- Oversee coordination of sponsorship and advertising opportunities related to conferences and professional organizations.
- Research regional and local market trends and collaborate with leadership teams to identify marketing needs and opportunities.
- Assist in the generation and adaption of marketing materials for specific advertising, promotions, award applications and conferences, and industry specific events.
- Introduce best practice marketing tools to help support and evaluate marketing performance across the group.
- Identify the marketing channels that work best within our sectors.
- Conduct competitive intelligence analysis in our sectors.
- Develop and execute social media, blog, and external marketing communications strategy.
- Monitor the performance of advertising and other campaigns in our sectors.
- Coordinate capturing client feedback around our services and performance.
- Advise and monitor marketing and PR supplier relationships across the company, looking for opportunities to share experiences and resources.
- Work in close collaboration with Business Development Managers and entire MBD team, participating in company team meetings, and leading regional or BU-specific marketing meetings, as necessary.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years’ marketing experience within the Performing Arts, Music, Media & Technology, Education, Experiential, Hospitality & Leisure, Civic & Public, Workplace, Cultural, and Sports & Live Entertainment sectors or related experience.
Relevant Skills and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing, arts administration or another relevant discipline.
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM) or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Marketing Manager in the architectural, cultural, experience economy, workplace and construction sectors as set out above highly preferred.
- Demonstrable budget and people management skillsets.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of digital marketing tools (including website and search engine optimization) and marketing, communications, and social media.
- Demonstrable experience of writing for multiple audiences and presenting written information in a professional and concise format.
- Demonstrable experience of thought leadership and creating industry-leading reports on the latest issues and trends.
- Strong computer literacy, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CRM and Outlook package and experience in document production (InDesign experience necessary).
- An expectation to travel from time to time for business and in support of Charcoalblue events and business development.
- Experience working across different time zones.
- Experience of working as part of a distributed, international team.
- An interest in design and delivery of construction projects.
- An interest in the performing arts, workplace and/or experiential spaces.
- Photoshop and video editing skills.
