Mid-Level Laboratory Planner ZGF is seeking a creative, curious, and motivated Mid-Level Laboratory Planner to join our team in our New York City office. We are looking for thoughtful individuals with excellent communication and technical skills and interest in developing their knowledge of and experience in laboratory planning and design. The position will support the firmwide lab planning effort and the entire architectural team with the development, execution, and completion of technologically advanced, state-of-the-future laboratory projects. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of laboratory planning/design professional experience and will bring design excellence to every project.The current compensation range for this role is $80,000 to $110,000 annually, dependent on education and experience.As a Mid-Level Laboratory Planner/Architect, you will….Build knowledge of laboratory design topics while providing support to the architectural and lab planning staff, with the goal of becoming an expert in this special fieldDevelop and provide technical planning expertise, and eventually leadership, for laboratory projectsBe involved in programming, design, fit-out planning, major equipment planning, building systems integration, laboratory casework systems design and specification, and construction administrationPrepare architectural documents, elevations, sections, and details and modifying those documents as requiredAttend, and eventually lead, laboratory planning meetings with design team and clientsParticipate in professional development trainingIntegrate and advance sustainable design solutions into high-technology facilitiesAssist in the development of standard laboratory design materials to be used firmwideAssist in preparation of 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings and modelsDevelop and maintain excellent relationships with existing and potential clientsParticipate in selected marketing and business development opportunitiesActively seek to expand knowledge in the design and planning of multiple laboratory typesActively participate in educational, social, and professional events, including involvement in industry associationsParticipate in a culture of excellent external and internal client serviceQualifications:5+ years’ experience in laboratory planning and designBachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience requiredProficiency in Revit, Adobe Suite, SketchUp, and Microsoft OfficeDemonstrating creativity, passion, and interest in design and planning of laboratories within technical facilitiesDesire to expand knowledge of general, technical, and regulatory concepts and requirements for laboratory designInterest in Science and the advancement of Scientific ResearchWilling to be mentored in laboratory design and able to take on self-directed learning exercisesKnowledge of laboratory planning, design, construction documents, construction administration, and project construction are requiredKnowledge or interest in sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelinesAnticipating and developing solutions to technical and design problems following established standards, including research on laboratory equipment requirements and detailing of laboratory casework systemsAbility to communicate both verbally and in writing, including ability to communicate assignment status and to request guidance when necessaryAbility to convey laboratory planning needs to designers and other team membersComfortable with working in a team environmentWell organized and ability to effectively meet deadlinesApply With: Cover letterResumePortfolioZGF Architects LLP is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
