The Perkins&Will San Francisco Studio is growing, and we are looking for highly motivated individuals excited to help us grow our practice. We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Project Architect to join a highly collaborative and dynamic Healthcare team with opportunities for growth. The ideal individual will have 8+ years of experience and be a self-starter with strong project architect skills. Responsibilities
Project Responsibility: Planning, development, and execution of technical documentation, which may include interpreting, organizing, and coordinating project team assignments.
Design & Technical
- Understand all aspects of the design process and project complexities to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team while adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, project management, execution, and living design.
- Understand and respond to technical implications, design decisions, and project financial goals.
- Coordinate project documentation execution, construction plans, and details, ensuring quality control and completion.
- Review deliverables at each phase for conformance with firm standards, contractual obligations, and project design intent, with a focus on quality, accuracy, legibility, completeness, and constructability.
- Responsible for addressing Quality Control review comments at each phase.
- Manage project Quality Assurance and adherence to Perkins&Will standards.
- Lead project coordination efforts among internal disciplines (architecture, interior design, landscape architecture) and with external consultants.
- Communicate with clients related to project technical matters.
- Administer project regulatory reviews (building code, accessibility, zoning) and coordination with, and submission to, authorities having jurisdiction.
- Lead construction contract administration responsibilities including submittal review and response, RFI review and response, field observation and reporting, and project closeout.
- Maintain awareness of evolving building technology and engineering systems relevant to project work.
- Participate in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups.
- Demonstrate strong and effective communication, decision-making, and collaboration, which inspires high team performance.
- Ensure tasks are completed according to Perkins&Will standards.
Management
- May establish architectural budgets, task schedules, and other components of the project work plan with the Project Managers.
- Direct or coordinate the production of construction documents, drawings, and specifications in compliance with project scope, schedule, and cost.
- Implement meeting objectives, facilitate meetings, and provide documentation in collaboration with the Project Managers.
- Contribute to project marketing pursuits, proposal preparation, and interviews.
- Mentor staff.
Education & Experience
- Professional degree in architecture.
- 8-10 years of experience.
- Architect Licensure.
- Healthcare experience or interest in healthcare preferred.
- LEED GA obtained within 6 months of hire and Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design (LEED AP with Specialty, WELL AP, etc.) obtained within 1 year of hire.
- Demonstrates collaborative and professional work ethic.
- Experienced in all phases of project design, construction documentation production, and construction materials.
- Familiar with building codes, specifications, building, and engineering systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including client presentation skills.
- Strong passion for working relationships with clients and consultants, building relationships, and expanding the practice.
- Advanced knowledge of Revit and ability to interpret and review Revit drawings.
- Knowledge of conceptual and computational modeling tools such as Rhino, including Grasshopper scripting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and 365, Adobe Creative Cloud (including presentation tools such as InDesign and Photoshop), and visualization tools such as Enscape, Lumion, and VRay.
- Experience with physical modeling tools such as 3D Printing and Laser cutting.
- Familiarity with environmental analysis software such as Pollination, Ladybug, and Climate Studio.
