WATG is hiring a Project Designer in Architecture for our office in Los Angeles, CA. ROLE The Project Designer develops, implements, and creates design concepts for domestic urban/mid-rise/high-rise and multi-family residential projects, and provides design continuity and leadership throughout the entire project. The Project Designer develops and coordinates the conceptual design with other team members to further develop the design of all phases of one or more projects. In partnership with the Project Manager and Project Architect, the Project Designer is accountable for the financial performance of the project and team communication. As a member of the project team, the Project Designer establishes the design direction and vision for the project, assists and coordinates with the document preparation to support the design intent, prepares for design presentations, and coordinates with agencies affecting design. RESPONSIBILITIES Creates, develops, and implements project design concepts and the design documents during the Concept through Design Development Phases of domestic urban/mid-rise/high-rise and multi-family residential projects Supports the resolution of design solutions during the Construction Documents and Construction Administration Phases Confirms that the design follows the contractual agreement with the client and that the project is on schedule and within budget May assist with the completion of construction documents Develops solutions to technical and design detail problems following established standards Proposes and develops effective design solutions to design problems that meet project goals Verifies that project needs and design intent are met by effectively managing design staff and ensuring the efficient utilization of resources Monitors initial design through completion of construction Works with the design team in prioritizing, planning, and executing several projects efficiently Oversees design team in ensuring that documentation for all phases conforms to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standard Attends on-site visits and client meetings to verify design requirements and delivers design progress reviews Understands and implements processes that reduce risks and exposure Supports the marketing and business development activities of the office when needed Incorporates Integrated Sustainable design solutions into projects Mentors and develops team members, providing ongoing performance feedback to enhance team performance and contributions Fosters commitment to external and internal client service QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Architecture Professional license preferred Environmental accreditation preferred 10+ years’ experience designing domestic urban/mid-rise/high-rise multi-family residential projects Proficiency in software skills, including, Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, and Sketch-Up Sketching skills a plus Experienced in client management, project management, and negotiations Ability to work in a team environment and supervise others Ability to effectively meet deadlines Highly effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills Dedicated management and leadership skills Ability to Travel required *Please include a copy of your resume and portfolio to be considered for this position.
