The role at a glance:
This position offers an exciting opportunity for those aiming to advance their marketing experience within a leading architectural firm. Regional Marketing Managers at NBBJ work closely with Practice Marketing Directors and Market Leaders to lead the marketing and client development programs within our East Coast offices. They orchestrate effective new business/prospect efforts, organize and implement targeted lead generation and client relationship programs, lead sales efforts, and implement strategies for thought leadership content programs that underscore NBBJ’s point-of-view.
Regional Marketing Managers have the opportunity to provide hands-on creation and management in the development and production of qualifications, proposals, and interview presentations that grow potential clients, enhance current client relationships, and support the execution of NBBJ’s go-to-market strategy. The Marketing Manager partners, guides, and mentors Marketing Specialists and Coordinators and acts as an effective advocate for members of the team.
In your new role, you will:
Lead Generation & Client Relationships:
In collaboration with senior studio and market leaders, support business development by identifying new opportunities, enhancing client satisfaction, and providing valuable insights to inform strategic decisions, utilizing NBBJ’s custom client touchpoint framework.
Prospect & Point-of-Sale Strategies:
Focus pursuit teams on the best opportunities. Organize a best-in-class marketing approach. Maintain a high level of communication with Practice Marketing Directors to ensure efforts fit into the marketing plan for the larger firmwide practice. Address client needs and clearly articulate the fundamental design challenge and innovation opportunity through qualification packages, proposals, and presentations. Guide strategy for the implementation and integration of new collateral and messaging. Develop new methods for engaging with prospective clients in an entrepreneurial way. Communicate NBBJ's unique value proposition and look for novel opportunities to build awareness of NBBJ’s service offerings. Deploy NBBJ’s internal marketing best practices toolkit for point-of-sale excellence. Conduct debriefs to ensure learnings and insights flow back into the pursuit teams and marketing leadership.
Content Differentiation and Upfront Strategy Implementation:
Integrate ideas-based marketing early in the proposal and interview response. Ensure strong market context knowledge and conduct robust research at the beginning of efforts. Encourage side door (cross-practice) expertise and lean-in strategies to bolster credibility and value creation. Apply and implement cross-practice content, including integration of point-of-view material. Migrate qualifications-based thinking to value creation.
Process and Best Practices:
Schedule and organize an effective go/no-go process. Lead and orchestrate marketing meetings. Ensure the organization and accessibility of practice metrics and marketing materials. Work collaboratively with the Marketing Systems Manager and Firmwide Director of Marketing to ensure best practices are being deployed at the point of sale. Lead the adoption and use of the CRM database in partnership with Market Leaders. Advocate and implement point-of-sale strategies throughout the entire sales process. Identify strong go-to-market messaging to be used in client proposals and qualifications. Act as a resource ambassador, clearly navigating the vast marketing resources to pull them into a best-in-class deliverable.
Design Discipline Empathy:
The Regional Marketing Manager is deeply immersed within a design culture made up of multiple disciplines, where the scoping of design projects and creation of learning opportunities for project teams is paramount. An openness and desire to understand all the various aspects of design are critical, as is a commitment to dialogue with the broader NBBJ architect/designer community. This role involves leading and engaging marketing and pursuit teams in our Columbus, New York, and Boston offices, with occasional travel to these locations or client meetings as needed.
What you will need to succeed:
Degree in Marketing, Communications, or other applicable discipline
Minimum of 8-10 years of industry/relevant experience
Management of a marketing sector and supervisory experience preferred
Intermediate/Expert understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
Understanding of basic layout and graphic design principles
Excellent writing and editing skills
Exceptional time management and organizational skills
Experience in proposal management for professional services firms (examples a plus)
Ability to work efficiently under multiple deadlines and manage large teams
Good interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge of Deltek Vision, OpenAsset, CRM, and other databases a plus
For Columbus or New York candidates, actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including skills, qualifications, and experience. The annual base pay range for this role is anticipated to be between $110,000 - $130,000 for a candidate in New York.
