Your Role A Specifications Leader is responsible for guiding project teams in preparing Preliminary Project Descriptions, Outline Specifications, and Construction Project Manuals. The role includes partnering with project teams in their responsibility of researching materials, selection products, editing specifications and administering construction contracts. This critical role also participates in training, mentoring, and collaborating with project teams to edit and collate project specifications. Specifiers at Gensler are integrated project team members rather than departmentalized in-house consultants. What You Will DoProviding specification editing support for a variety of Studios and Practice Areas.Communicating firm best practices, policies, and procedures to project teams.Educating and mentoring staff on master specification documents, construction documentation, and editing methodology.Liaising with Manufacturers Representatives as needed for research and project support.Collaborating with other Gensler Regional Specification Leaders in developing and maintaining master specification documents.Collaborating with other Gensler Regional Specification Leaders to prepare and present education materials related to specifications and other technical topics.Collaborating with other Gensler Regional Specification Leaders on compliance training and monitoring activities.Your QualificationsHold a certificate as a Certified Specification Practitioner (CSP) at minimum, be a Registered Specification Writer (RSW) with the CSC.Bachelor of Architecture or higher degree from an accredited architecture, engineering, or design school.Registered Architect preferredPossess at least 10-15 years of architecture/engineering industry experience.Working knowledge of construction documentation.Good command of both written/oral English.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to handle multiple competing priorities.Member of the Construction Specifications Canada (CSC)This position is based in Gensler’s Toronto office.Life at GenslerAt Gensler, we are as committed to enjoying life as we are to delivering best-in-class design.
