The role includes supporting project teams in their responsibility of researching materials, selection products, editing specifications and administering construction contracts. The supporting role includes training, mentoring, and collaborating with project teams to edit some specifications. Construction specifiers at Gensler are integrated project team members rather than departmentalized in-house consultants.What You Will DoProvide specification editing support for a variety of Studios and Practice AreasCommunicate firm best practices, policies, and procedures to project teams, with a focus on material research capabilities and sustainabilityEducate and mentor staff on master specification documents, construction document technology, and editing methodologyLiaise with Manufacturers Representatives as needed for research and project supportAssist Regional Specification Leaders in developing and maintain master specification documentsAssist Regional Specification Leaders to prepare and present education materials related to specifications and other technical topicsAssist Regional Specification Leaders with compliance training and monitoring activitiesYour QualificationsBachelor of Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited school preferredRegistered architect or interior designer preferred10+ years of experience in a similar roleHold a Construction Document Technologist (CDT) certificate, or preferably be a Certified Construction Specifier (CCS)Working knowledge of base building and interior fitout construction documentation preferredExperience in building construction and interior fitout specifications writing requiredAbility to edit and produce specifications from masters is preferredAbility to write customized specification sections is a plusUse of AIA MasterSpec through E-Specs to create and edit specifications sections is a plusAbility to do conduct product and system research is desiredGood command of both written/oral English; Spanish and Portuguese a plusExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to organize and administer work for multiple projects with competing priorities*This is not a remote position. The successful candidate will be expected to live in, or relocate to, the Baltimore or Washington, DC area upon acceptance.
