We are currently seeking a Sr Project Architect to join our Sports + Recreation + Entertainment team. As a Sr Project Architect, you, in partnership with the Sr Project Manager and Sr Project Designer, are accountable for project financial performance and team communication. You will be responsible for the issuance and content of deliverables, technical content of HOK documents, and coordination of disciplines including consultants, as well as the supervision of all staff producing documents.
You will be responsible for ensuring the overall design intent of the project established by the Sr. Project Designer is incorporated into the detailed documentation. This includes monitoring the design process from the conceptual phase through construction administration, ensuring the design idea is consistent and properly executed. You will also be responsible for technical resolution and coordination for a defined portion of a project.
Additionally, you will work with the Specification Writer to develop specifications and coordinate drawings and specifications. You will check completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations for accuracy, set the overall strategy for producing the documents, and identify the sheets planned for each stage of the work. This includes defining how data will be organized into files and which elements will be incorporated in a Building Information Model (BIM).
You will set up project team software parameters and manage standards, fostering and maintaining a collaborative professional working relationship with the Project Leadership Team. Communication with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors will be essential to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements, providing support as necessary. You will ensure that construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards.
As a supervisor, you will oversee the preparation of technical drawings by less senior level architects or technicians, perform as team leader on certain projects, and mentor and direct the work of less experienced staff. You will participate in professional development reviews and “Lessons Learned” sessions, taking personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices while fostering a commitment to external and internal client service.
You will work on developing a positive relationship of trust with client leadership, regularly communicating with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews, and delivery of final presentations.
You will receive project direction from the Principal in Charge and technical direction from the RBU Technical Principal. Coordinating the use and tracking of shared electronic documentation and files with the project team, clients, and consultants will be part of your responsibilities. You will assist in planning and conducting work, making minor adaptations and modifications to complete working drawing sets.
Meeting with municipal building department and other governing agency officials to coordinate approvals or variances, writing reports and memos to consultants and vendors to issue changes and track resolutions, and providing technical support and project communications to the team as required will also be part of your role. You will attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings, preparing and coordinating the review of contractor’s schedules, submission of shop drawings, and samples.
You will assist the Specification Writer in product research, consulting with manufacturers, evaluating and selecting project-related materials, and will be involved with specification set-up and drawing coordination, research, and appropriate use of HOK Standards. Providing support to all team members for specific market, discipline, or other areas of expertise will be essential, as will participating in team meetings to help resolve project issues, coordination with other disciplines, schedule adherence, and technical issues.
You will also participate in the review of project costs and budgets, adherence to schedule, prepare meeting minutes of consultant coordination meetings, and may prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings and build models for client/project team review. Incorporating Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects will be part of your responsibilities.
You may participate in business development meetings with team leaders to target specified project, client, or market opportunities.
