Sr Project Designer

We are currently seeking a Sr Project Designer to join our team. As a Sr Project Designer, you, in partnership with the Sr Project Manager and Sr Project Architect, are accountable for project financial performance and team communication. As a member of the project team, you will establish overall design direction, develop architectural design concepts, and prepare documents during the design development phase. You will be responsible for the development of conceptual design for all phases of one or more projects. You will assist and coordinate with the construction document preparation to support design intent, prepare for design presentations, and coordinate with agencies affecting design.

Leadership

As a leader, you will:

• Originate and develop creative design concepts and design documents during the design development phase.
• Support the resolution of design solutions during the construction documents and construction administration phases.
• May assist with the completion of construction documents.
• Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
• Develop solutions to design problems.
• Oversee the design team or less experienced designers to ensure design intent.
• Ensure the project is on schedule and within budget.
• Ensure that documentation for all phases conforms to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards.
• Mentor and direct the work of less experienced staff, participate in professional development reviews and “Lessons Learned” sessions.
• Set up project team software parameters and manage standards.
• Take personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
• Foster a commitment to external and internal client service.

Client Interface

You will regularly communicate with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications, conduct progress reviews, and ensure design delivery. You will prepare client presentations and present design concepts and drawings.

Business Development

You will support the marketing and business development activities of the office when needed.

Teamwork

You will provide technical support and project communications to the team as required. This includes:

• Attending on-site visits and client meetings to verify design requirements and deliver design progress reviews.
• Providing support to all team members for specific market, discipline, or areas of design expertise.
• Assisting the Project Manager with defining project work plans.
• Participating in team meetings to ensure the design intent is consistently adhered to.
• Performing as Team Leader on certain projects.
• Leading a small team of less senior designers or technicians in developing solutions to technical and design detail problems following established standards.
• Participating in project reviews regarding project costs, budgets, and adherence to schedule.
• Tracking electronic project data and files.
• Facilitating team internal and external project communications.

Required Skills

• Advanced knowledge about sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
• Thorough knowledge of buildingSMART, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Integrated Project Delivery (IDP).
• Ability to work in a team environment and supervise others.
• Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Proficiency in the basic technical skills of architecture including the following computer skills:
• Proficiency in Rhino and Grasshopper is required.
• Enscape, 3D Max, Revit, and BIM is preferred.
• Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software required.
• Knowledge of Affinity Suite is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 15 plus years design experience preferred.
• Licensed Architect with current registration in your region preferred, if licensure is offered in your region.
• NCARB registration preferred.
• LEED credential required within 6 months of employment.
