We provide a wide range of services to our public sector clients (Federal, State and Local government) - from programming and strategic planning to design and implementation of spaces. As a Technical Designer in the Workplace Studio, your job is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce functionally beautiful spaces for our clients. Your successful track record on architectural projects and ability to problem solve both individually and as part of a team make Gensler a perfect place to cultivate your career.What You Will DoManage multiple aspects of client, team and project design and coordination, including full documentation coordination with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustical, accessibility, building envelope, life safety, etc.)Manage communication between project team, client, vendors, contractors, and consultantsResolve complex technical and design issues with team to produce innovative technical/constructible solutionsLead production of drawings, specifications and construction administration tasksResponsible for oversight and delivery of documents with design intent and top-notch technical qualityResolves complex technical/design issues and detailing and provides guidance and mentorship to teamMaintain and oversee the project manual and specificationsConduct on-site observations and document site reviewsProcess submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFIsInterface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the projectActively participate and contribute to the financial performance of projectEnsure projects conform to contractActively leading teams for successful delivery of projectsManaging client expectations, team communication and oversight of consultant coordinationContribute to office activities, initiatives and learning programsEstablish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationships through successful project delivery.Your QualificationsProfessional degree in Architecture or Interior Design, demonstrated with a rigorous portfolio0-2 years of related experience, including demonstrated success with interior architecture (workplace, public sector experience a plus) Proficient in Revit; experience with Rhino, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and MS OfficeWorking knowledge of building codes, standards and building structuresAbility to understand how buildings are constructed and to create technical documents that succinctly describe the work to be doneExperience with the entire project lifecycle and design process through post-occupancyFlexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of developmentA quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environmentExcellent written + verbal communication and client relationship management skills.Collaborative and team-consciousAbility to handle difficult situations with tact, grace and styleMust have the ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships through successful project deliveryLEED accreditation preferred*This is not a remote position.
