Our multi-disciplinary Transportation Practice has designed over 100 public projects including elevated, at-grade and underground stations and multi-modal hubs for high-speed rail, LRT, Bus and BRT, metro stations, and airports around the world. We seeking an experienced transportation architect and leader, with 15+ years of experience with design and delivery of rail stations, and related transport and mobility infrastructure. Ideally you have relationships with transit agencies, engineers, and related actors in the transit ecosystem of the US northeast/east coast. Built experience abroad is a bonus, as is specific project work on high-speed rail, and underground stations. Airport experience is also an asset. We are looking for a candidate whose design work reflects the qualities that differentiate Perkins&Will’s transportation practice. Your projects and experience will demonstrate: • People-focused transportation facilities where the customer experience drove design. • A track record in winning rail stations and related transport and mobility infrastructure projects. • Placemaking, where design moves aided in blurring the experience between city and transit. • Leadership in equity, resilience, and sustainability, where your design and management approach and/or team composition demonstrated leadership in diversity, respect for all segments of the community, protection of our environmental resources and excellence in building performance. • Robust multi-modality, where stations are easy to navigate and transfer between various modes, and well connected to their communities today, and set up to integrate additional and new modes and connections in future. • Leading successful project teams. • Design-build/P3/Alternative Financing/Procurement (AFP) expertise would be optimal. Additional Requirements 10 to 15 years of architectural design experience in a variety of project scales in the public transportation sector. A Master’s Degree in Architecture. Licensed Architect with licensure in NY and other Northeast states an added asset. LEED accredited or equivalent, or ability to become so within 6 months of employment. Your Strengths Business development and client relationship management through pursuit and project delivery. Relationships within the public transportation industry: transportation agencies, city transportation planning departments, contractor and engineering partners, disadvantaged businesses, etc. Expertise with design-build, public-private-partnerships (P3) and other forms of alternative finance/procurement (AFP) delivery is a strong asset. Commitment to collaboration and a professional work ethic. Excellent team development, management, communication, collaboration and mentorship skills. Project management including staffing, consultant coordination, drawing development and review, and budget and schedule adherence (experience with contract language and liability an asset), and excellent time management. Sustainable building design, concept development and applied experience. Deep knowledge of architectural design documentation, detailing, building materials and codes and construction techniques. Graphic communication abilities (development of parti diagrams, and illustration of concepts via various methods from hand drawn to digital/3D to support communication of concepts during design) Clear and concise verbal and written communication abilities. Practical knowledge of programming, site planning and structural concepts.
