At Zaha Hadid Architects, we are seeking to hire a Tech Lab Workshop Assistant on a permanent contract to join our growing team in London. This role involves assisting in making architectural models and supporting the Tech Lab Workshop Manager with 3D printing, file preparation and fabrication tasks. You will be able to run a project from start to finish while maintaining a calm approach, prioritize tasks and maintain confidentiality.
Main responsibilities:
Assisting/leading in the creation of architectural models, not only final presentation models, but also throughout the design process.
Assisting/leading in the ‘fixing up’ of 3D files in preparation for either using with the 3D printers in-house, or the preparation of files for external companies.
Willingness to work with others, brainstorm ideas.
Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling, costings.
Assist in orderings and the maintaining of stock levels.
Help maintain an inviting, clean and professional workshop.
Show willing and enthusiasm towards the views and ideas of the office.
Work to the Health and Safety requirements, showing willingness to be involved in becoming first-aid qualified.
Be aware of the sensitive nature of some of the work which we do in the office and maintaining strict confidentiality when required.
Express an understanding of multiple views.
Showing willingness to be involved with workshops, internally and with external service providers and creatives.
Assist in preparation for events involving the Tech LAB/Workshop area.

Skills Required
A good understanding of the 3D printing process, difference between the multiple technologies, and an understanding of the materials involved in each process.
Good Level of 2D + 3D CAD.
Good understanding of laser cutting.
Good understanding of CNC.
Good level and competence in using the machines within the workshop environment, saws, sanders, knives etc.
Desired skills and qualifications
High level of experience in one or more of the following programs: Rhino, Materialise Magics, AutoCAD, Maya.
Strong accuracy and ability in Model making skills.
Good understanding of Modelshop machinery and processes.
An understanding of geometry and its impact on architecture.
Exposure to the 3D printing Process, able to create files suitable to use with the 3D Printers.
