BUILD BETTER NOW A pledge for COP26: the critical role of cities in meeting climate ambitions
Monday 1st November 2021, 12pm-1pm
Cities account for over 70% of global emissions and consume over two thirds of the world’s energy. More than half of the total emissions from cities come from buildings, with transport (primarily road transportation) accounting for about a third of emissions, and the third highest proportion of emissions coming from processing waste.
And yet, cities are innovative, flexible and compact units that have demonstrated real ambitions in cutting carbon emissions and inspiring ways to address the climate emergency. If all cities take actions, climate ambitions can suddenly become more achievable, leading to tangible results.
During this panel event, you will hear from representatives from a number of cities that are leading on the climate agenda to show the critical role of cities in addressing the climate emergency.
