"Politics is the art of the possible" – The case for Active Travel Infrastructure in Bath Councils are complex beasts with many moving parts working at different speeds and in competing directions. BaNES just announced 23 Low Traffic Neighbourhoods. Something I feel I played a key role in delivering. When I started campaigning in 2013 I used to have hair. This is my story. Gear Change: A bold vision for cycling and walking The publication of Gear Change and LTN 1/20 in July 2020, when it had so much else to deal with, clearly demonstrates the Government’s commitment to a future where cycling and walking are the default choice for short journeys. In this presentation Phil will summarise the key messages of both documents, including the implications on the planning and design of new developments and the role of Active Travel England, a new Statutory Consultee. Phil will also explore the relationships between LTN 1/20 and the National Model Design Code and the forthcoming revised Manual for Streets Phil Jones, Phil Jones Associates
