The Sacramento office of Stantec Consulting Services, Inc. (Stantec) is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer position supporting our Energy Engineering group with a strong focus in integration of hydroelectric plant systems.

**Your Responsibilities**
+ Developing preliminary scope definitions, budgets, and staffing plans.
+ Field review and evaluation of existing equipment, control systems (hardware and software) and control panels.
+ Development of design packages that include:
+ Studies, conceptual reports, and technical memorandums.
+ Electrical schematic and wiring diagrams.
+ Electrical equipment layout plan and section drawings.
+ Coordination of mechanical specifications with controls content.
+ Process flow diagrams and design criteria.
+ Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
+ Conducting I&C engineering and analyses related to water control structures such as dams, spillways, intakes and outlets, pipelines, penstocks; medium voltage hydropower generation equipment such as generators, governor and excitation systems, generator auxiliary systems, generator buses, generator circuit breakers, unit step-up transformers, power plant switchyards; and balance of plant electrical systems such as medium and low voltage switchgear, motor control centers, DC battery systems, backup generators, and protection and control systems.
+ Supporting multi-disciplinary teams with engineering design projects and studies.
+ Developing construction documents (drawings, specifications, and schedules). Drawings for construction include:
+ Database driven Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's).
+ Detailed network communication architecture diagrams.
+ Control panel details.
+ Safety and Security Systems such as: CCTV, Access Control System, public Address System, Fire Protection Systems.
+ Point-to-Point Wiring Diagrams.
+ Instrument installation details.
+ Development of technical specifications, instrument datasheets, and detailed control strategies / narratives including producing drawings in CADD (AutoCAD).
+ Senior review and evaluation of:
+ Electrical schematic diagrams.
+ Review and evaluation of mechanical specifications with controls content.
+ Review and evaluation of process flow diagrams and design criteria.
+ Coordination of I&C deliverables with the process, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
Construction support activities
+ Participate in construction site inspections
+ Support of equipment and control system commissioning, start-up, and performance testing.
+ Assist with system troubleshooting.
Marketing Support Activities would be considered an asset, including:
+ Assisting marketing team with project pursuit strategies.
+ Presentation material development.
+ Serving as I&C discipline subject matter expert.
Comply with all company, Federal, and project site policies and procedures.
Follow Stantec and client safe work practices and adhere to all company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
**Qualifications**
**Your Capabilities and Credentials**
+ In depth knowledge of standards and codes involved in design and installation of Control Systems (SCADA, DCS, etc.), PLC and electrical equipment, including US based standards and IEC equivalents. Knowledge of US National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) and NERC CIP4 is required.
+ Experience with hydro facility rehabilitation including controls systems.
+ Experience designing interfaces with SCADA/ Control systems
+ Experience with Schematic and Wiring diagram design
+ Self-motivated
+ Experience with AutoCAD required
+ Experience with REVIT or other 3D modelling software preferred.
+ Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required; experience with Microsoft Project and Access is a plus.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English).
**Education and Experience**
+ Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with emphasis in design interfaces with SCADA/Control Systems. Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
+ 13 or more years total relevant Experience
+ P.E. License required. CA P.E. preferred

108,000 - 162,000 (CA, CO locations only)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
