Take the first step towards designing your career with Stantec. As a professional services firm our Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office is seeking an entry level Plumbing & Fire Protection Designer to grow with our team. We are better together.
As a junior Plumbing and Fire Protection designer you will work alongside senior engineers to assist with drafting and design calculations for projects of all sizes and complexity. You will attend meetings, observe onsite construction, and assist with the evaluation, recommendations, design, and specifications for engineered plumbing and fire protection systems. You will have access to all applicable codes and engineering standards / practices, and have the opportunity build your technical knowledge.
**Your Key Responsibilities**
+ Perform design drafting and modeling of plumbing and fire protection systems using revit software programs.
+ Collaborate with architectural, interior, and other engineering disciplines in the coordination of the project under the direction of senior engineering staff.
+ Perform field work as directed by senior engineering staff to gather information and observe construction.
+ Perform basic calculations for plumbing and fire protection systems using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
+ Assists with plumbing and fire protection engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
+ Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
+ Performs other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
**Qualifications**
**Your Capabilities and Credentials**
+ Basic understanding of Revit and AutoCad, and the use of industry drafting/design tools.
+ Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critic al thought.
+ Basic understanding of design and construction for buildings.
+ Plumbing system comprehension and spatial reasoning skills, the ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
+ Ability to take direction, follow process and accept feedback and suggestions from senior engineering staff.
+ Requires understanding of Revit, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Participate in constructability reviews and construction site visits.
**Education and Experience**
Associates degree or equivalent in Engineering and working toward Licensure or Certification - Minimum of 0-2 years of experience. Coop/Internship experience preferred.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
