“The Sequence” by Thomas Rowntree

Thomas Rowntree is a BA(hons) Architecture graduate. His final year thesis that received nominations for the RIBA Bronze Medal and AJ Student Prize BA(Hons). The thesis aims to explore how we can use film framing and sequences of spaces to speed up or slow down the rate at which ez-convicts can reform.

The quote from Bernard Tschumi “The question becomes whether one can organise architectural drawings as a movement sequence” is pivotal to the exploration and resolution of the project. Using theory from Gilles Deleuze and Sergei Eisenstein, we understand the significance of movement and flow in film on the impact on the human mind
