Seminar on Topiary Composition for keen gardeners and creatives who want to learn how to make amazing plant sculptures in their garden
In this seminar we will explore how to design a piece of topiary.
We will look at the skeleton shapes all topiaries start from, common configurations grown in nurseries and through garden history, when to use formal forms and the mindset needed to make more organic pieces.
This seminar is for keen gardeners and creatives who want to discover how they would explore the shaping of plants to improve their garden space.
You will learn not just tips and tricks from my own practise, but how to think about shapes and their context, so that whatever garden you have you can be bold and discover the topiary that will work best for you.
I am an experienced topiary artist, working all over the UK making and maintaining plant sculptures. I tend to compose well over 20 new projects each year in a variety of styles.
As a teacher I share my knowledge at the English Gardening School in Chelsea, give talks to horticultural societies and present practical workshops with the European Boxwood and Topiary Society.
Topiary is a thrilling art form when thought about and given context. I hope by the end of this seminar you will be inspired to grab a pruning saw and pair of shears, head into the garden and get shaping some shrubs into something special!
It lasts two hours including time for the q and a at the end.
You will need paper and something to draw with.
I will plant a tree for each and every ticket sold for this event, via Trees For Life.
Book 1 ticket and anyone else who lives with you can watch too.
