**AECOM** is seeking a **Systems Design Manager / Traction Power Lead** based in either **Oakland, CA or Los Angeles, CA** .
AECOM is looking for a Senior Systems Design Lead to join our West Coast Transit/Rail team in California. The candidate will be responsible for managing the systems design disciplines. The Senior Systems Design Lead will work collaboratively with a team of Engineers and Specialists across rail systems disciplines (Systems Engineering, Signals, Electrification Systems, Data Communications, and Project Controls), Project Managers, Systems Engineers, Signals Engineers, Analysts, and Coordinators. As the System Design Lead, you will be responsible to ensuring that the systems design is completed, and requirements of the Performance Specifications and other design criteria are met, on the projects that you will be involved on.
+ Systems Design Management responsibility, including management of the design services during design and construction of major transit/rail projects, including alternative delivery or other comparable delivery project;
+ Lead design and specification development of the following specialties: Systems Integration, SCADA, Communications, Trackwork, Signaling, Systems Assurance (RAM), Safety Assurance, Vehicle and Wayside Interfaces, Traction Power Design, Power Supply and Distribution, System and Train Simulation, Tunnel Constructability, and Fire Ventilation;
+ Preparation of detailed calculations, drawings, technical specifications, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, cost estimates, detailed analyses, design justifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes for transit/rail projects;
+ Ensure all design elements are compliant with the relevant Rail Operation Rules, all applicable industry codes and standards, and client expectations;
+ Provide valuable leadership to junior staff and mentoring to develop their technical skills;
+ Interact with clients to discuss technical topics in a clear and professional manner. Facilitate resolution of customer expectations versus technical issues;
+ Work with tight schedules, be flexible, control project budgets, and motivate junior staff;
+ Plan and execute project work, based on an understanding of the project scope, schedule, and budget;
+ Proposal and Project assignments may include Commuter, Subway, Light Rail, Heavy Rail, Transit Storage and Maintenance Facilitates, Transit Tunnels;
+ Other duties as assigned/required.
+ BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership
+ Technical competence in all elements of transit/rail systems engineering;
+ Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related engineering discipline from an accredited University that is recognized by the Professional Engineers of California;
+ Professional Engineer in California is preferred;
+ Minimum of 15 years of experience in the design and management of complex multidisciplinary light rail system alternative delivery projects:
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in managing systems design of light rail transit projects;
+ Experience on design management responsibility managing at least one alternative delivery rail transit project or other comparable delivery project;
+ Experience on management and design of at least one transit project wit dedicated guideway in a public street in a dense, congested urban environment;
+ Experience with California Public Utilities Commission rules and regulations is preferred;
+ Proven ability to work successfully in multi-disciplinary teams and across different business units;
+ Experience in different Phases of the Engineering Design Life and familiarity with Systems Engineering standards;
+ Ability to recommend appropriate actions to ensure compliance with clients, local, state, ad federal regulations;
+ Understanding of the System Safety Certification processes and RAMS will be an asset;
+ Knowledge of signalling principles, train control solutions including CBTC (moving block or fixed block) and PTC, and railway standards such as CENELEC, AREMA and MIL-STD;
+ Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio;
+ Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally to all AECOM, partner, and client office locations, including project offices, if applicable;
+ Strong communication skills, presentation skills, and report writing skills.

+ Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $141,243.45 - $261,300.39
