    **Job Description**

    **AECOM** is seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist to be based in our Austin, TX office. This position will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line.

    _This position is expected to begin February/March 2023._

    **Job Overview:**

    AECOM is seeking an Entry-level Environmental Scientist I in our Austin, Texas office to assist with a variety of projects including data management, site investigations and remediation. The successful candidate will assist with gathering and analyzing geological, hydrogeological and geochemical data in both the field and office settings.

    _The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:_

    + Environmental Staff Scientist/Geologist will support execution of projects involving soil and groundwater investigation, compliance, and remediation activities in accordance with the Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, or other regulatory programs.

    + Assisting Project Managers in efficient execution of project scope of work on time and within budget.

    + Providing field services for site investigation, drilling, UST removal, soil, air, and groundwater sample collection, and related work.

    + Provide office support for data management and report preparation.

    + Maintain the required AECOM-related documentation and forms.

    + Substantial (50-75%) out of town, overnight travel required. Ability to travel out-of-State to complete field work (potentially>10 days or longer).

    + Ability to work independently with diverse staff in office and non-office setting (i.e., outdoors, undeveloped/wooded areas, year-round).

    + Field tasks may require ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.

    + Must be able to conform to AECOM travel policies, including ability to obtain and hold the AECOM corporate credit card for use in making travel-related purchases .Must demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees.

    + Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Field work will be required including oversight of subcontractors.

    **Qualifications**

    **Minimum Requirements**

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Geological Sciences, or related field of study

    + Valid U.S. Driver's license.

    + Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is require

    **Preferred Qualifications**

    + Ability to travel up to 80% to various job sites within US

    + Ability to understand and supervise advancement of soil borings and installation of monitoring wells;

    + Ability to demonstrate a primary technical role in multiple site characterization, subsurface investigation and remediation projects at various client sites;

    + Understand and assist with site conceptual models;

    + Collect and evaluate environmental data in field and office settings;

    + Prepare investigation reports and drawings;

    + Possesses technical report writing skills;

    + Independent field work and leadership of field teams;

    + Contractor oversight;

    + Selected candidate will be required to complete 40 hour HAZWOPER training or annual refresher class, if needed;

    + Selected Candidate will also receive First Aid/CPR training and AECOM specific training; and

    + Learn and develop a keen understanding of hazard recognition; and environmental investigation or remediation.

    + Candidate must be proficient with basic computer programs; MS Word and MS Excel.

    **Additional Information**

    + Relocation is not available for this position.

    + Travel is required for this position. Candidate must have the ability to travel up to 80% to various job sites locally and regionally.

    + Candidates will be asked to submit to a Motor Vehicle Record screening upon hire.
