What the project brief asked for
CL Hotels selected Gary Todd Architecture to create a designer hotel in Dunedin, with Indyk Architects designing the interiors. The brief called for a modern experience that was clearly articulated, context-aware and rich in detail.
Public and private spaces combine art, luxury and innovation. The hotel cafe bar serves guests and the Dunedin community, while guestrooms offer flexibility and different levels of luxury.
Why the interior strategy works
- The light-filled atrium gives the hotel a clear public heart.
- Mezzanine art walkways make movement part of the guest experience.
- Materials refer to Dunedin’s heritage, including basalt, Oamaru stone and verdigris roofscapes.
- Bespoke joinery, rugs, carpets, bathrooms and furniture give the interior a strong identity.
