The Sussex by Mckimm is a luxury house design shaped by material weight, water, family life and a carefully choreographed journey through the home.
The project is for a family of six with a wider extended family brief, so the architecture has to balance intimate daily routines with larger gatherings and entertaining.

Dining and gathering spaces are central to the family brief.
The built form uses heavy materials, softened lines and a strong relationship to water.
Project focus
The design celebrates brick, bluestone, porcelain, concrete, timber and leathered granite. Those materials create weight and texture, while curved forms and warmer tones soften the experience of the house.
Water is part of the spatial story too. The pool, shallows and changing levels help shape the journey home, from arrival to gathering, retreat and end-of-day privacy.
