Hason Raja Music School
“Hason Raja Music School” is Aasif Nur Shadman’s final thesis project from North South University, completed in 2020. Located in Sylhet, Bangladesh, the project proposes a music school designed to revive the cultural and spiritual legacy of Hason Raja, a renowned Bengali mystic and folk musician. The aim is to reconnect the community with traditional music through immersive and meaningful architecture.
The design makes use of local materials such as bamboo, mud, and thatch to create sustainable and climate-responsive spaces. Key elements include a courtyard-focused academic building, open-air performance areas, and festival spaces integrated into a masterplan that promotes movement and communal interaction. The drawings and rendered views reflect Aasif’s sensitivity to cultural context, natural environment, and spatial storytelling.
