Strive in the Lithiocene
For Ivy's final thesis, she created a system of spatial structures for Diaguita-Calchaqui indigenous to strive against the suppression of lithium extraction companies and government in North-western Argentina.
Despite the wild landscape, local reporters and QGIS were used for deep investigations. Both residences of the land and the lithium extraction plants relied on the same aquifer for a resources. The aim of the project is to establish the rights of land and water of the local community, and facilitate an effective and sustainable communication between the mining authority and the locals.

A closer look.
By giving pallets a new meaning other than just trash dumped on the land by the lithium manufacturers, this sustainable material is made into modular blocks. These easy constructed blocks forms devices, spaces and stages to serve three purposes. They facilitate the conservation of salt flats. the strengthen protest movements, and provide subversive rooms for sensitive discussions.

1 to 1 construction of pallet module is tested. Local materials and traditional cultures of the land is preserved and embraced in this project. Lithium industry might be unstoppable, but every living individual has the right to choose their way of living.
