The Watershed Collective
Here is Jasmin's final design thesis for a multidisciplinary centre for water stewardship, located at the historic Kilgour farm steading in Falkland, Fife, where the River Eden begins its journey. Set at the foot of the Lomond Hills, the project reimagines the dilapidated steading as a place for environmental engagement, learning, and reflection.
Bringing together researchers, practitioners, educators, and community groups, the centre offers flexible studios, educational spaces, and wellness zones that foster hands-on interaction with the watershed. Every space is intentionally designed to engage with water in its many forms, flowing, still, collected, or evaporating, making the hydrological cycle both visible and experiential. The building’s water infrastructure is celebrated as an integral part of its spatial narrative, continually reminding its stewards of their purpose and relationship to the watershed.

A closer look.
The architecture is rooted in regenerative design principles, employing sustainable materials, water-sensitive systems, and vernacular forms that ground the project within its landscape. At the heart of the experience is a nature-integrated spa and reflection zones, reinforcing the connection between personal wellbeing and the health of the watershed. Serving a diverse, multi-generational community, from local landowners and policymakers to eco-tourists and school groups, the Watershed Collective stands as both a functional hub and a conceptual anchor, inviting all to dwell within, learn from, and care for the water systems that sustain us.
