3W Architecture

3WA, a RIBA chartered architectural practice based in London, stands out for its design-led, award-winning approach to architecture. Their projects, spanning across various sectors including residential, commercial, education, and healthcare, demonstrate a deep sensitivity to the context of each site. This sensitivity encompasses material choice, construction principles, and a thorough consideration of sustainability, aiming to create architecture that is both contemporary and integrally connected to its surroundings (3W).

Among their notable projects is The Factory in Norwich, a transformation of a 1950s drawing office and workshop into loft-style residential units. This project showcases 3WA's ability to repurpose existing structures into modern living spaces while maintaining a simple material palette (3W). Similarly, the Avon Gorge House in Bristol exemplifies their skill in integrating a private residence within a sensitive historic and natural context, employing materials that blend seamlessly with the surroundings (3W).

3WA has also made significant contributions to public and healthcare spaces, as evidenced by their work on Horatio's Garden at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. This project highlights their collaborative spirit and commitment to creating accessible, beautiful spaces that contribute positively to health and wellbeing (3W).

Their versatility extends into the commercial and mixed-use domain, with projects like the office fit-out for venture capitalists in King's Cross, London. Here, 3WA expertly combined the historical elements of the original stable building with the needs of a modern IT-focused business (3W). Similarly, their masterplan proposal for Riyadh City Park in Saudi Arabia reveals their capability to knit new developments into the existing urban fabric, using traditional forms to create a coherent and functional public space (3W).

Further illustrating their range is the Chicken Farm project in Sussex, where they obtained planning permission for a rural office development that respects the site's history while incorporating environmental strategies like solar heating and grey water harvesting (3W). Their mixed-use scheme on Kings Road, Chelsea, again demonstrates their adeptness at blending high-end residential units into a vibrant urban setting (3W).

3WA's work on Cabot Mews in Bristol, a residential-led mixed-use scheme, showcases their ability to rejuvenate and sensitively refurbish historical urban fabric to meet contemporary needs, adding value to the community and the built environment (3W).

Through these projects, 3WA exemplifies their philosophy of creating architecture that is not only design-led and sustainable but also deeply rooted in its context, making a lasting contribution to the landscape of modern architecture.
