Alison Brooks Architects is a London-based practice founded in 1996 by Canadian architect Alison Brooks. Recognised as one of the UK's most influential and internationally acclaimed design studios, the practice employs cultural research as a catalyst for community engagement and for new forms of architectural expression.
Its built work spans large-scale masterplans and mixed-use developments, higher education buildings, private houses and public buildings for the arts, unified by a distinctive sculptural design language and a commitment to generous, inclusive city-building.
The practice has won more than seventy awards for design quality, including 2020 Dezeen Architect of the Year, 2024 Architizer A+ Best Medium Firm and 2024 BD Private Housing Architect of the Year. Alison Brooks Architects remains the only UK practice to have won the three most prestigious RIBA building awards: the Stirling Prize, the House of the Year and the Stephen Lawrence Prize.
Recent large-scale London projects include the Cadence tower at King's Cross and One Ashley Road in Tottenham Hale. International work includes The Passages, a high-density urban quarter in Vancouver, and the Western Curve Tower in Toronto's zero-carbon Quayside neighbourhood. Education and arts commissions include the Cohen Quad for Exeter College Oxford, the Homerton College Cambridge Entrance Building and the University of Toronto Bissell Building.
The studio is ISO 9001 accredited and continues to use private houses as a focused platform for its design research.
