About
About Bourne Blue Architecture.
Bourne Blue Architecture was established in Newcastle in July 1996. Its directors are Rachael Bourne and Shane Blue, who graduated from Sydney University in 1991 and 1990 respectively, and worked in Sydney, Canberra and London before settling to set up practice in Newcastle. Since 1996 the practice has built more than 290 projects, ranging from residential alterations and additions and new houses to child care centres and various school and university buildings.
The practice is design based and small, so that all projects have substantial director involvement and a project architect who takes the work from beginning to end. Bourne Blue has completed work from Canberra to Port Macquarie, including Gerroa, Sydney, Newcastle, Nelson Bay, the Hunter Valley and Pacific Palms, and its work has been published locally, nationally and internationally. The office is 100 per cent solar powered, with a rooftop 12kW photovoltaic array and 15kW battery, and 6000 litres of rainwater storage for toilet flushing and garden use.
