Dear Colleague,

I started Business of Architecture as a resource for firm owners around the world.

It began as a way for me to “scratch my own itch.”

When I started my own practice, I realized I didn't have a clue about how to acquire clients (other than word of mouth and chasing RFPs), or how to manage and run a profitable enterprise.

It was a constant headache and balancing act between putting out fires and being the best architect I could be.

That was back in 2011 – the firm lasted less than a year before I decided to shut it down.

It was painful and disheartening. I went to an elite architecture school, served my time working at several great firms – but none of that prepared me to have success as a firm owner.

I've made it my life's work to help other firm owners avoid the same trap.

So, I consulted industry experts and everyone I knew who ran a successful practice, read everything available on the subject, and combined that with my personal experience to develop what is now the SMART PRACTICE™ Method.
