About

About Mossessian Architecture.

Mossessian Architecture is an award-winning, London-based architecture practice established in 2005 and led by its founder, Michel Mossessian. Everything the studio does revolves around people, designing spaces that encourage them to interact with one another and engage with their surroundings, with each design growing from its context in time and place.

Based in Hoxton, the 20-strong team works across the UK and internationally on landmark buildings, masterplanning and mixed-use projects. London work includes 5 Merchant Square in Paddington, whose animated façade and terraces challenge the conventional corporate office block, and the King’s Cross S1 and S2 buildings, clad in textured black Armenian tuff stone to give a strong sense of identity within the public realm.

Internationally, the practice has completed 26 buildings in the Msheireb Downtown Doha regeneration in Qatar, a scheme that explores non-Western approaches to space and passive strategies for thermal comfort. Other work includes the restoration of Place Lalla Yeddouna in the Medina of Fez, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the ExxonMobil Technology Centre in Shanghai and the Villa Hegra cultural mission in Saudi Arabia.

The studio’s thinking is shaped by three ideas it calls Hyperlocalism, Sculpting the Void and Journey Through Time, and by founder Michel Mossessian’s work as a visiting professor at Imperial College London exploring the relationship between architecture and wellbeing.

Culture

Inside the studio.

A closer look at studio life, development and working patterns.

A 20-strong London studio based in Hoxton, Mossessian Architecture brings together experts of many nationalities across architecture, masterplanning, technology and research. It works in a collaborative, ideas-first culture led directly by its founder, operates a hybrid working pattern and places people, dialogue and wellbeing at the centre of how it designs and how it works.
