Nissen Richards Studio

In the cultural sector, the studio has worked on a wide range of award-winning theatrical, museum and gallery projects, both temporary and permanent, for institutions including The Courtauld Gallery, the British Museum, the British Library, the Natural History Museum, the National Trust, Kensington Palace and the Imperial War Museum, and internationally for KODE, MUNCH, the National Library of Norway and the National Museum of Norway. The studio recently completed the permanent exhibition design and interpretation for 37 galleries at the National Portrait Gallery in London, winner of a Gold European Design Award. In 2022 its work at the Anglo-Saxon royal burial site Sutton Hoo, including a new-build viewing tower, won a RIBA National Award, and in 2023 the studio was part of the team that won a RIBA National Award for the transformation of The Courtauld Gallery, a scheme that was shortlisted for the Stirling Prize and won the RIBA People's Poll Award.

In the housing sector, the studio works across a range of typologies, from the 167-apartment Sterling Gardens scheme in Berkshire to Hartdene Barns, a collection of nine highly sustainable new homes built to the RIBA's Climate Challenge standards.
