BIM, building information modelling, is the discipline of creating and managing structured information about a building across its life. In practice that means models, data and the processes that keep them reliable, coordinated and auditable.
In the UK it is both a way of working and a job family. BIM coordinators keep models clean and federated, BIM managers set standards and workflows, and information managers anchor delivery to the ISO 19650 series that many public and private clients now require.
